One of our most important contemporary artists Runcie excels for his sculptures and works in ceramic. His work is influenced by two cultures rich in this discipline: the Japanese and the Pre-colombian Peruvian. The artist has been centering his artistic proposal during the last decade in the instalation field. This being the physical handling of objects selected by the artist to devise an order which preserve the resonance of his mental space . The world opened to the viewer is one in which natural and cultural history are confronted and coiincide, witnessing to a new enriched reading of those objects within the flux of time.
Studies ceramic in the "Centro Piloto Artesanal de Miraflores". In 1979 worked as apprentice to Masters Ceramist Tsukimura Masahiko in Ogaya, Japan and after in the workshop of ceramist . Shimaoka Tatsuzo in Mashilo, Japan. He was given a grant by the OAS for a "Course of Perfecting the Art of Ceramic" in .the Public School of Sesto Fiorentino n Florence, Italy. Returns to Perú in 1985 to instal his workshop.
